The Victoria HarbourCats are entering their final weekend of the regular season tonight, chasing at least a pair of West Coast League attendance records.

They are also looking forward to their third trip to the playoffs, beginning Tuesday night in Wenatchee, Washington, and with games scheduled for Wednesday and then Thursday if necessary in Victoria next week.

Coming off a three-game sweep of the Port Angeles Lefties last night in Washington State, both teams will head back to Victoria today and play another three game set here at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park tonight (Friday) and Saturday night, as well as Sunday afternoon.

Saturday night’s game, with a 6:35 p.m. start time, will feature a post-game fireworks display. It’s at that game that the team hopes to set a new single-game attendance record, with over 5,000 fans in the stands.

The second record the HarbourCats are aiming to set is the new single-season attendance mark. Going into this weekend’s trio of games, 53,446 fans have visited the ballpark this summer so far. A strong showing at the turnstiles this weekend will help the team eclipse the league-record 62,599 that they set just last year. That number last year landed the HarbourCats at #9 on the North American list of summer collegiate squads, in a field of over 200 teams.

Friday night’s game is the last “Forces Friday” of the season, and will include a drone demonstration by the Victoria Fire Department, and an opportunity for fans to win “jerseys off their backs” – game-worn jerseys directly from the players.

Sunday’s 1:00pm afternoon game is fan appreciation day, with extra fan prizes added into the usual mix.
