According to Saanich Police, this resulted in a physical altercation between the two during which the suspect pulled a knife.

“The LPO [Loss Prevention Officer] was thankfully not stabbed,” said Sgt. Julie Fast. “The suspect man fled onto Quadra where our officers located him at Union Rd.”

Once Saanich Police located the suspect, he struggled against the impending arrest and as a result, the attending officers suffered several bruises and abrasions.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody and will be appearing in court today.

Officers are recommending several charges including assault with a weapon, assault, theft under $5000 and breach of probation.
