Join this virtual snowball fight to help kids at BC Children’s Hospital

Get ready for the largest virtual snowball fight British Columbia has ever seen!

Many of us have fond winter memories of snowball fights as a child, but for kids undergoing treatment at B.C. Children’s Hospital, snow days may look a little different.

Some of these children have endured chemotherapy; others had undergone multiple surgeries. But for one day, these kids can forget where they are as they playfully throw snowballs at one another and their doctors – they can just be kids.

On November 19th, these kids at BC Children’s Hospital will be happy to take on a different kind of challenge – to throw as many snowballs as they possibly can, marking the second annual Snowball Fight for Kids Campaign, a BC-wide virtual snowball fight powered by online donations.

Anyone can take part in the campaign from November 19th, 2019 through January 6th, 2020, which is as easy as making a donation online. Each donation made represents a virtual snowball thrown.

“The holidays represent a season of hope, but for many kids, their holidays are spent at the hospital. It’s for them that we’ve launched Snowball Fight for Kids, which was inspired by our goal to help kids get back to being kids,” said Teri Nicholas, President and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“The community support we receive during the holidays from this campaign helps to transform lives of kids and families at the hospital—which is why we need your help reaching this year’s goal of 30,000 virtual snowballs thrown.”

“The support raised through Snowball Fight for Kids will help fund vital equipment, innovative research and other urgent needs of the hospital that will help us provide the best care imaginable for kids across the province,” said Dr. Cindy Verchere, director of BC Children’s burn unit and one of the three physicians to be pelted by her patients’ snowballs.

From Monday, November 19th 2019, to Monday, January 6th 2020, every donation will translate into a “virtual” snowball being thrown – and like any other snowball fight, the more the merrier!
