2nd annual downtown Victoria snowball fight is happening tomorrow night

Share

The organizer of last year’s snowball fight that saw hundreds gather in downtown Victoria is back at it again!

The unofficial snowball fight event was created by former Saskatchewan resident Kelly Somogyi in 2019, and after nearly 500 people battled it out on the Legislature grounds last year, he decided to bring it back.

“I try to do it kinda during the first snowfall that we have, just to get everybody excited about it,” Somogyi tells Victoria Buzz.

The event was launched on Facebook on Sunday night and Somogyi hopes it will get just as many people out as last year, if not more.

“Lots of people joined in [last year], including tourists and people who hadn’t even heard of snowball fights before. Everyone had lots of fun, everyone put their adult on pause and became kids.”

Last year’s snowball fight was possibly the largest of its kind ever seen in Victoria, bringing people of all ages together to participate.

This unofficial yet officially cool winter event is coming back to the Legislature on Tuesday January 14th, starting at 7 p.m.

Weather forecasts call for more snow tonight and tomorrow, so there will be lots of ammunition to go around!
