Saanich Police have confirmed that no bombs were found after a threat forced the evacuation of Spectrum Community School this morning.
At around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning, students and staff at the school located at 957 Burnside Rd W were evacuated after a bomb threat targeting the building was made.

Shortly afterwards, students were dismissed for the rest of the day and hundreds congregated at next door Marigold Elementary to await pickup.
In a phone call with Victoria Buzz, Saanich Police D/Sgt. Damien Kowalewich stated that after the bomb threat was received, members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, officers trained in explosives detection, and K9 trained especially in detecting incendiary devices were deployed to the school.
“Police took a methodical and conservative approach to make sure school was clear of any threats,” said D/Sgt. Kowalewich.
“Right now we’re in the very early stages of the the investigation. Our priority was to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and people in the surrounding areas.”
No bomb or any type of explosive was found during their search.
Officers will now be shifting their focus to determining who is responsible for the threat. The individual or individuals identified may potentially face charges under the Criminal Code, or other consequences.
In a letter to parents and guardians, the Greater Victoria School District announced that students who have any information regarding the threat can provide it directly to Spectrum administrators or report it anonymously through the erase reporting tool.
“Student safety is always our primary concern and we take threats toward our school seriously,” reads the letter.
“This news may impact some of you because of other events that may be currently or previously affecting your life. Support is available to students in the counselling department if required.”
Spectrum Community School remains closed at this time and will reopen on the morning of Wednesday March 11th.
