Some mouth watering new flavours are coming to town!
Victoria’s newest and possibly most unique Indian restaurant, Taj: Taste of India, will be hosting a soft opening at their new 852 Fort Street location on Tuesday, March 10th.
The eatery will be serving up both a la carte and buffet meals everyday starting tomorrow, except the day of their grand opening this Saturday, March 14th.
Patrons on Saturday will not be sitting down to a buffet meal, but instead can avail a 20% discount on a la carte items to celebrate the restaurant’s opening for that day only.
Besides the usual fan favourites in Indian cuisine, Taj promises to bring some flavours that Victoria has likely never tasted before.
For example, an entire section of the menu is dedicated to Indo-Chinese food – a style of cooking that combines Chinese food with Indian spices to create a fusion of explosive flavours.

The restaurant’s extensive menu also features a section for street food that will be served everyday between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., introducing classic north Indian fare like gol gappe and pav bhaji to the population of Victoria.
One of the many unique features about Taj promises to be the ambience. According to operator Rohil Chandna, the restaurant will be adopting a Bollywood theme, complete with music and posters boasting artists from the Indian film industry.
The restaurant will also feature a private basement dining room available to book for parties and other private occasions. All in all, the entire venue can accommodate a total of 130 guests.
As an added bonus, for the first month of operation, Taj is offering 10% discounts for patrons who order pickup, and for university students who present their IDs.
Those who would rather enjoy their meals at home while watching a Bollywood movie can do so by ordering Taj dishes on SkiptheDishes, Uber Eats, and eventually Doordash.
