Nootka Sound’s famed Salmon Enhancement Derby has returned for its 8th year, and even better, we’re giving away two tickets so you can experience it for yourself!
Since 2013, Moutcha Bay Resort has been hosting this family-friendly event, which was created to raise funds for salmon enhancement and habitat restoration within the Nootka Sound and Esperanza Inlet watershed.
The two-day tournament will take place on June 26th-June 27th with participants targeting southbound Chinook on their migration route.
There will be prizes for the three largest fish as well as hidden weight and junior angler prizes. With each ticket, you’re helping raise important funds for salmon enhancement projects and habitat restoration by the Nootka Sound Watershed Society and Pacific Salmon Foundation so we can continue to expect healthy salmon returns in the future.
The Salmon Enhancement Derby will feature delicious eats served up at the on-site Conuma Grill, live outdoor entertainment, as well as online raffles, draws and auctions occurring throughout the weekend.
In light of the ongoing pandemic, this year’s derby will be a hybrid event – partially physically distanced in-person components along with fun virtual offerings as well. The derby will not include large gatherings like in-person awards ceremonies or live auctions, which will be moved to online to ensure everyone’s safety.
