A house fire in Saanich last week is no longer being considered as suspicious.

In the early morning hours on Wednesday, August 11th, Saanich fire crews were dispatched to a large house fire on Battleford Avenue.

Due to the severity of the blaze, authorities were not able to confirm that everyone made it out safe until they completed a thorough search of the house, which took place a couple of days later.

On Saturday, detectives with the Saanich Police Major Crime Unit have concluded that there was no criminality surrounding what caused the fire, and it is no longer being treated as suspicious in nature.

Additionally, everyone believed to be residing at the home has been accounted for.
As a result, the investigation has been turned over to Saanich Fire investigators to determine.

The house was extensively damaged in the fire.
