71-year-old Nanaimo man looking for his lost cash hopes it will be turned in

While it is a long shot, a 71-year-old Nanaimo man is hoping someone will turn in his money he lost last week.

The senior believes the envelope—containing thousands of dollars—was lost on either Thursday, March 3rd, or Wednesday March 4th in the Nanaimo area.

The man told Nanaimo RCMP he withdrew the money from his bank on March 3rd and believes he placed the envelope that contained the money, in a pocket of his jacket.

Following the withdrawal of money, he took several taxis on the two days in question and has called both taxi companies with no success.

“The victim realizes it’s a shot in the dark but he is hoping that a Good Samaritan may have found the money and will do the right thing and turn it in to the local RCMP detachment,” said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file # 2022-7936.
