An Oak Bay driver had their vehicle impounded after being caught driving nearly double the speed limit last week.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., on July 13th, Oak Bay Police conducting speed enforcement on Cedar Hill Cross Road near Crestview Road observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was travelling eastbound on Cedar Hill Cross Road and was determined to be travelling 93km/h in a 50km/h zone using a Dragoneye Lidar (a laser speed measuring device).
The driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The incident follows a similar early July incident, where a 20-year-old Oak Bay driver had his mother’s vehicle impounded after driving 97km/h in the 900-block of Beach Drive, an area with a 40km/h speed limit.
