38-year-old man suffers life-threatening injuries after violent assault in Nanaimo

A violent assault that occurred in Nanaimo last night left a man with life-threatening injuries, and police are appealing for witnesses and video evidence.

The incident happened at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Thursday May 11th, at the corner of Bastion Street and Wallace Street.

Nanaimo RCMP responded to the scene within minutes, but the victim, a 38-year-old man, had already sustained serious injuries and was transferred to a Nanaimo hospital.

He was later transferred by air ambulance to a hospital in Victoria for further treatment.

Police were able to identify a possible suspect, an adult male, in the vicinity and apprehended him without any issues.

Investigators are seeking any eyewitnesses who might have seen the incident or have dash-cam footage that can assist in the ongoing investigation.
