Share

In a recent operation, law enforcement officers with the Shiprider Program successfully apprehended a suspect and recovered stolen property during a boat check near Ogden Point.

The Shiprider Program, a collaborative initiative, employs specially trained officers from both Canada and the United States to conduct cross-border surveillance and law enforcement activities.

On June 7th, officers were conduction patrols in the Haro Strait and Juan de Fuca Strait when they eventually came upon a vessel in the Ogden Point area.

Officers boarded the vessel leading to the discovery and retrieval of a significant amount of stolen property—some of the fishing rods and reels are believe to be valued over $1,000.

Consequently, one individual was taken into custody.

An investigation into a series of stolen properties is ongoing with Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

RCMP are actively seeking assistance from the public in identifying the owners of certain items that were recovered. These items include fishing gear, marine safety gear, and an outboard engine.

While the rightful owner of the dingy has come forward, police are still looking to reunite the other items with their rightful owner.

Anyone with information that could help identify the owner of the aforementioned stolen property is asked to contact Constable Adrian White of the BC RCMP Pacific Shiprider Program at (250) 405-7110 or adrian.white@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
