29-year-old Saanich man arrested after unprovoked stabbing in View Royal

A 29-year-old Saanich man has been arrested following a stabbing incident in the West Shore area yesterday.

On Tuesday, July 18th at about 2:40 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing that had taken place on Helmcken Road in View Royal.

Responding offers located the victim, who fortunately, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Due to the incident’s proximity to Saanich, the Saanich Police Department responded as well, successfully locating and apprehending the suspect.

The identified suspect, a 29-year-old resident of Saanich, has been apprehended for assault with a weapon.

Presently, he is in custody under the supervision of the West Shore RCMP, and he is scheduled to appear before the courts later today.

Police said the victim and suspect do not appear to have a relationship and the violence appears to be unprovoked.
