Ah! Where did July go?

Welcome to the month of August, Victoria!

Still plenty of sunshine to be had and incredible events in the works, so start your August on a high note and keep reading if you wish to catch a glimpse at what we’ve found for you.

Without further ado, here’s 5 things to do in and around Victoria on Tuesday, August 1st:

Catch the Sturgeon Supermoon

Strap on your cameras and haul the tripods, Victoria — we’re in for a Sturgeon supermoon!

According to the Farmers’ Almanac, a supermoon happens whenever a full moon occurs at the same time the moon hits its closest point of orbit with the Earth, known as a perigee.

To prepare for the phenomenon on Tuesday, August 1st, we wanted to give you a variety of viewing options so you don’t have to waste any time looking at anything other than the sky.

Maude’s Trivia Night

Widely popular and always worth the trip, Maude’s returns for another Tuesday of epic trivia!

Bring your team and get ready to crank out some wild facts, play along to win prizes, and treat yourself to some of Maude’s delicious beer-battered fries and beer on tap.

Trivia starts at 8 p.m. but make sure to come early — especially if you have a larger table, otherwise you’ll have to come back next week!

No fee to play.

Don’t miss the jazz icons, Ashley Wey, Louis Rudner, Kelby MacNayr as they take the stage at the James Bay United Church!
Enjoy a relaxed evening of fantastic live jazz music with your friends and family.
Admission is by donation — they will accept whatever you can offer, but $20 is suggested.

Hula for Seniors

At Silver Threads Community, Aloha Fit Hula & Fitness has organized a Hawaiian Hula Dance for Health and all the seniors of Victoria are invited!

As described, this class will cover basic Hawaiian hand, feet, and body dance movements to teach you fluidity of movement and grace.

This is a low-impact class that focuses on gentle and fun exercise!

Live at Cameron Bandshell

Don’t forget about the free music series at Beacon Hill Park!

Tuesday, August 1st will bring Big Little Lions to the stage — a powerful Indie duo known for their prolific songwriting, tight harmonies, and emotional sound.

They have released 6 albums to date and are excited to present a lineup of their songs to you!
