The Travel and Leisure magazine’s report of the top 10 Canadian hotels is out, and a downtown Victoria hotel was among the ranks.
Located steps from the inner harbour, the Magnolia Hotel & Spa took home another title — adding to their prestige and reputation as a premier destination for travelers seeking personalized service, fine dining, boutique-style aesthetic, and a unique vacation experience.
As a multi-award winner, it’s no surprise that the hotel also just placed seventh and scored a 92/100 in Travel + Leisure’s (T+L) survey detailing the top 10 favourite hotels across Canada for 2023.

Every year T+L launches a ‘World’s Best’ survey for categories such as hotels, cities, cruise lines, and more based on the lived-experience of nearly 165,000 T+L readers.
The winners are determined via the compiled votes based on category-specific criteria.
This year, T+L saw a 25% increase in votes compared to pre-pandemic numbers with over 685,000 votes across the various categories using the ranking system of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor.
Hotels were ranked based on the following:
- Rooms/facilities
- Location
- Service
- Food
- Value
