Another day, another list of cancellations for BC Ferries.

On Wednesday morning, BC Ferries had to cancel nearly half a dozen sailings between Victoria and Vancouver due to ongoing mechanical problems with the Coastal Celebration vessel.

Initially, the 10 a.m. and noon sailings were at risk of being cancelled, however, BC Ferries later said those sailings would go ahead.

Four other sailings remained cancelled, two on each side:

  • 2 p.m. departing Swartz Bay (Victoria)
  • 4 p.m. departing Tsawwassen (Vancouver)
  • 6 p.m. departing Swartz Bay (Victoria)
  • 8 p.m. departing Tsawwassen (Vancouver)

“The following Coastal Celebration sailings have been cancelled for today, July 19th, due to an ongoing mechanical issue with the vessel’s propulsion system,” said BC Ferries on their website.

The vessel underwent its annual refit in June, but the process had to be extended due to issues with the ferry’s stern tube bearings and the rudder stock.

Make sure to check the BC Ferries website before heading out.
