More sailings at risk of cancellation between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen

Share

As BC Ferries continues to navigate mechanical issues, peak traffic and staffing issues, more of their sailings are at risk of cancellation.

In the morning of Tuesday, July 18th, the Coastal Celebration was having mechanical issues with its propulsion system — a persistent issue stemming from Monday.

Already on Tuesday, the 6 a.m. sailing was cancelled because of the problem.

In order to properly look into the issue, the 2 p.m. sailing from Swartz Bay and the 4 p.m. from Tsawwassen were put at risk of cancellation.

Since that time, BC Ferries has announced the propulsion system issues have been resolved for the time being.

That being said, now the 6 p.m. sailing from Swartz Bay and the 8 p.m. from Tsawwassen may be at risk of cancellation while they continue to monitor and investigate the ongoing issue.

This latest notice was posted at 1:18 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this mechanical issue and previous cancellations,” said a BC Ferries spokesperson in the travel advisory.
