Happy weekend, Victoria — to celebrate we have created another extensive list of events for you to check out this weekend.

You’ll find a mix of unique festivals, surprising music performances, cool outdoor activities, and much more!

If you’re hungry to learn more, here’s the full list of 14 things to do in and around Victoria on August 12th and 13th:

August Plant Sale and Celebration

The Compost Education Centre invites you to their annual plant sale!

There will be plenty of local farmers offering a wide variety of organically grown annual overwintering vegetables and perennials to keep you eating local organic produce through the seasons.

Additionally, you can also look forward to live-bike-pedal-powered music, a raffle, and artisan vendors!

Bring a blanket and a picnic so you have somewhere to lounge and something tasty to eat.

Entry is by donation or free if you are a CEC member.

Free-B Film Festival

This film festival kicked off on Friday, August 11th and will feature a huge lineup of free outdoor movies throughout the month of August!

On Saturday, August 12th they’ll be showing the 1961 3D version of The Mask and the 3D goggles will be provided.

They ask that you bring a blanket, some snacks, a flashlight, and maybe a teddy bear. There is no cost to enjoy the movie, admission is free — just make sure you pack out what you bring!

Bowker Creek Biodiversity Day

Come and celebrate biodiversity at the Kings Community Nature Space and learn about the creek and the vision for its future.

This is a free and family friendly event and will feature music by the Bald Eagles Band, games, crafts, and ice cream!

Nomad Market Summer Series

Market lovers, we’ve got another one for you!

Come on by Caleb Pike Heritage Park in the lovely Highlands and take a stroll down past different artisans and craftspeople where you’ll find a wide variety of goodies to shop around for!

Find artfully crafted clothing, soap, hand-poured candles, jewelry, carvings, woodwork, and much more.

There will be fresh food on site for you to grab as well as some live music for easy listening!

Canada Dry Victoria Dragon Boat Festival

Hosted by Fairway Market, this incredibly vibrant event is ready to take Victoria by storm!

It’s meant to bring Chinese and local cultures together, and celebrate them through dragon boat racing, cultural demonstrations, and local artist performances for all day entertainment and a taste of China’s culture in Victoria.

With Chinatown just a few blocks away, guests are encouraged to check that out as well!

If you’re hoping continue your support and celebration of Chinese culture, there is a fundraiser dinner happening in September at Don Mee’s Seafood Restaurant, 538 Fisgard Street.

John Lee Trio

Jazz lovers, this is for you!

Known for his charisma and incredible musical talent, John Lee will be performing with his Trio members at Hermann’s Jazz Club on Saturday.

Punk and Metal Night at Phoenix Bar and Grill

Mosh pit lovers, this is for you!

Victown Punk Society presents an evening of Punk, Metal, Thrash, Metal Core & everything in between.

Meteor Shower

Pack up the car, we’re going on a pre-dawn adventure!

Every year, the Perseid meteor showers light up the sky between late July and late August and hit their peak performance in mid-August.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, you’ll be able to catch the highlight of this shower between midnight on August 12th and the early hours of August 13th.

Check out our recommended spots to view the meteor shower to make the most out of the evening!

Phillips Backyard: Reverb

Hey there, music enthusiasts and festival-goers — don’t forget to mark your calendars!

The much-awaited second half of the Philips Backyard Music Festival kicked off on Friday, August 11th and will continue until Sunday, August 13th.

Presented by Phillips Brewing & Malting Co and The Zone @ 91.3, this event brings a fusion of electrifying headliners, local talent, and rising Canadian artists in an unforgettable celebration of music and community!

Catch artists like Peach Pit, Fleet Foxes, Hollow Coves, Ruby Waters, and much more.

Day Of The Dog

Cuteness overload! Bring your pets, your pals, and your family members to Bullen Park in Esquimalt for this incredible doggo-filled weekend — occurring on both Saturday, August 12th and Sunday, August 13th!

Included in the day’s activities will be a superhero themed photobooth, a pool party for dogs, yoga with adoptable puppies, and so much more.

It’s family friendly and free to attend!

PEMF Festival

The Perseid Electronic Music Festival (PEMF) invites you to a night of electrifying beats, cosmic soundscapes, and dancing under the stars.

As described, this event is named after the mesmerizing meteor shower that is set to light up the skies, PEMF is set to be an unforgettable night.

There will 13 DJs throughout the course of the evening to keep you energized and ready to go until the last performance goes quiet!

Tickets are $75 at the door.

FREE Yoga in Irving Park

Back for another Sunday, FREE Yoga in the Park is being held in Irving Park on Sunday with the support of numerous local businesses!

This session is an all levels vinyasa class, so bring as many friends as you’d like.

They ask that you bring your own mat and props!

There is a public washroom located in the park too.

IRL Battle Arena

Fun for the whole family! Book this epic experience with a group of people and enjoy the socialization, the great outdoors, and the thrill of a game come to life.

IRL Battle Arena’s most commonly used outdoor public venue for play “anywhere” laser tag is the picnic area beside the Ash Road parking lot of Mt. Doug Park. This location has ample parking, excellent washrooms, picnic tables and an area of forest perfect for our games.

Saanichton Corn Maze

Ocean View Estates will be launching the fourth annual Saanichton Sunflower Festival this Sunday, August 13th. Attendees are invited to explore a diverse collection of sunflowers with their families, friends, or even venture solo. The Estate envisions a delightful experience of creating lasting memories and seizing moments amidst numerous strategically placed photo opportunities across the expansive flower-laden acres.

A new attraction awaits festival-goers. On weekends, an Indian Street Food and Beverage Garden will be featured, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to this year’s festivities.
