This Wednesday presents a bundle of engaging and entertaining events that you and your family and friends can look forward to.

Catch Canadian icon Louise Rose at Hermann’s Jazz Club, attend an informative seminar on New York Salsa dancing, get excited about the upcoming Fringe Festival shows, and much more!

Outdoor Movie Series

All throughout August this outdoor movie series has been screening free favourite movies for residents and visitors in Bullen Park!

Keep the summer magic going with their next showing, Twister — Esquimalt’s Emergency Preparedness team will even be there to give a quick and valuable session on what to do during a natural disaster.

You can bring your own snacks or treat yourself to the Country Crepes food truck or popcorn made for you by the Esquimalt Lions Club!

Louise Rose at Hermann’s Jazz Club

Considered a Canadian treasure, Louise Rose will be returning to Hermann’s Jazz Club with her performance, ‘Alone Together’.

Rose has studied, played, and worked with multiple big names in the jazz industry, including Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, and Ella Fitzgerald!

Audiences always describe her performance as captivating and full of soul and charisma — something you’ll be able to experience for yourself at Hermann’s.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.

Fringe Festival Preview

As of Wednesday, August 23rd, the 2023 Fringe Festival has officially begun and you’re invited to kick it off with the perfect preview event!

Grab your own Fringe Festival program guide, pocket your highlighters, and get down to Market Square for the two minute previews from each show in the festival.

To add to the excitement, there will be new hosts, additional performances from Matt Stern and the Aunty Collective, as well as a welcome from Brianna Bear!

Then, from Thursday, August 24th until Sunday, September 3rd, you’ll be able to catch the shows you marked as a must-see.

The preview event is free to attend but admission by donation is encouraged.

New York Salsa History Seminar

Good news for the dancers of Victoria!

Ever wondered about the history behind the vibrancy of New York Salsa dancing?

You’ll be given the chance to learn more at a seminar offered by Salsa Caliente at Studio 4 Athletics — just remember to register before you arrive.

Registration fees are $15 and you can sign up by emailing calientedance@gmail.com.

Summer at Ship Point

Don’t forget about the wonderful free summer series happening down at Ship Point on Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

The Summer at Ship Point series launched on July 18th as part of the ‘OUR DWTN’ revitalization program and has successfully engaged crowds and provided fun for the whole family!

The event offers food trucks and live music all afternoon and into the evening — a perfect stop for a lunch break or an evening visit with friend.
