9 Victoria-based roasteries where you can get your buzz on locally

You probably have a favourite coffee shop, but do you have a favourite roastery?

In celebration of National Coffee Day on Friday, September 29th, we’ve gathered a list of different roasteries in and around Victoria that you can collect like the ultimate coffee bean bucket list.

Most of them have store-fronts and there’s no panic if they don’t—luckily Victoria also has a lovely variety of local grocery stores and farmers markets that you’ll likely spot them in like the Fernwood General Store, Red Barn Market locations, and many more.

Here’s 9 roasteries in and around Victoria:

FIX! Coffee Roasters

Ethically sourced, small batch roasted, and produced right here in Victoria—what’s not to love?

Created to showcase their love for Vancouver Island, this coffee brand has a true West Coast vibe and is dedicated to showcasing their passion for good coffee.

You can purchase FIX! coffee beans at Fernwood General Store, The Market Gardens, Red Barn Market in Esquimalt, and more. Check out their full list here.

They don’t have a coffee shop, but they encourage visitors to drop by their little coffee lab for a visit and a tour! Just give them a heads up first through their contact portal.

Bows Coffee Roasters

Bows is a charming family and friend owned business in Victoria and describe themselves as a collection of stray coffee professionals.

They are always on the lookout for ways to lessen their own environmental impact and ensure everyone in the coffee industry is celebrated, from producers to servers.

They are open for order pick up and takeout drinks!

Black Bear Specialty Coffee

Always rotating and always bringing quality, Black Bear Specialty Coffee is a great coffee bean resource if you’re an avid coffee trier.

They feature fair-trade beans from around the world and are approved by the Rain Forest Alliance!

They’re coffee can be found at a number of different locations, which you can view on their website—or you can purchase their beans online.


Mile Zero Coffee Company

Mile Zero, known as a local landmark, is very close to where this small roaster began!

They’re focused on serving the vibrant local market and community around them the freshest specialty coffee available.

They also offer free delivery to those living in the core Victoria area (Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay, Vic West and Esquimalt). Just use the code VICFRESHMZ at checkout!

They have a roastery bar where you can order drinks and hang out, and they’re also available in many grocery stores around town.

Discovery Coffee

Famous in Victoria, this roastery and coffee shop has been delivering top notch coffee, service, and vibes since it began.

As they grow and expand, their mission remains the same: hand-selecting the beans from farmers all over the globe, roasting in small batches, and pairing beans to specific brew methods to deliver the perfect taste.

In 2020 they moved their roastery location to a fresh new spot in Rock Bay—their house warming was the 2020 Canadian National Barista Championships!

Caffe Fantastico

This lively and bubbly cafe is locally and family owned and has been operating for over two decades!

They’ve gone to great lengths to ensure everything is ethically sourced—including years of dedicated research, sourcing and establishing connections with farming communities has resulted in a curated selection of Arabica coffees.

As described on their website, each coffee is carefully roasted to highlight their unique traits created by their growing environments and processing methods!

    • Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Yoka’s Coffee & Honey

Established in 1983, this wonderful family-owned shop has been offering fresh-roasted, premium coffee at affordable prices since the beginning.

They started in Vancouver and moved to Victoria in 2010 and feature one of the widest and freshest coffee selections in the city.

Shop from over 20 single sourced coffees and blends—grab some tea and local honey while you’re at it!

They’re cash only, so make sure you stop by an ATM before visiting.

2% Jazz Coffee

Uncompromising quality that is accessible to all—this is their promise and guarantee for visitors and customers!

What began as an outdoor kiosk in 1996 quickly grew into the community fixture it is today, so you can now relax, visit, and drink quality coffee indoors.

They work directly with coffee expert, Tristan Bacon, the chief coffee buyer for 2%Jazz. He examines the bright red coffee cherries through a machine called a Brix meter to determine the ripeness and sweetness of the crop.

So, you know it’s going to be fresh!

Esquimalt Roasting Company

Small batch, roasted in-house, and here to provide the best—Esquimalt Roasting Company is here to bring you premium coffee!

Community is their top priority, which is why guests always come first and bean transparency, communication, and doing right are in their mission statement.
