Here’s why you’ll see witches on paddle boards at Thetis Lake next week

Dig out your witch and warlock costumes, Victoria!

It’s nearly Halloween and to celebrate the upcoming haunted season, a super unique, fun and casual event will be taking place on Sunday, October 1st at Thetis Lake.

Join your fellow witches and warlocks as they put down their broomsticks and take to the water for the second annual What’SUP WITCHES paddle event.

“Last year we had over 100 attendees and it was a wonderful sight to see. We’re very excited!” said one of the event coordinators, Divya Kapila.

Witches and warlocks will gather by the main beach at Thetis Lake with a paddle and a board (or a kayak, canoe, floatie, flippers, etc. if you don’t own a paddle), and then the fun begins!

Take in the autumn coloured leaves, the scents, and make new friends at this free, relaxed event—it’s not a race, so you’re welcome to go at a pace you’re happy with.

The organizers will have a table with candies to hand out and DIY witch hats with chin straps available, that way they won’t take off as you gain speed. Go and say hello!

We’re also very excited to dress up ourselves and get out on the water while the autumn season is in full swing,” Kapila told Victoria Buzz.

Additionally, Palli Palli Paddle has provided an exclusive discount code for anyone who is attending this event and wants to rent a board—type in ‘witches25%’ at checkout for a 25% discount on rentals.

“We are looking forward to seeing all of the witchy looks that people put together!”

As described, there will be no official paddle board instruction or guidance, so participants should be comfortable on a paddle.
