The first report was received on October 11th—a woman phoned the police with concern that she was being followed by an individual around 4:30 p.m. at Goose Spit.

The suspect was described as a young man, around 25-years-old and standing at 6 feet tall, with light brown hair. He was wearing a beige/grey hoodie and black track pants.

Another incident was reported on October 20th, when a woman reported a similar experience at MacDonald Wood Park in Comox, around 4 p.m. that day.

She described him as a young man, around 25-years-old, light coloured hair, sparse facial hair, and standing at around 5”7 or 5”8. He was wearing a baseball cap with a yellow reflective jacket and black pants.

According to police, the incidents have been shared on social media, from which additional reports from the community have arisen over the past few days.

“We want to assure the public that our Special Victims Unit is actively investigating these reports. We are diligently gathering evidence and conducting interviews with witnesses,” said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer at Comox Valley RCMP.

“We kindly request anyone who may have observed any suspicious behavior in the area recently or has information about these incidents to come forward.”

Terrangi also wishes to remind the public to take safety precautions and remain aware of your surroundings.

“[Let] someone know your whereabouts, vary your route, take your cell phone or a friend, and listen to your thoughts instead of loud music,” she said.
