A traffic stop conducted by the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP led to the confiscation of firearms and the arrest of individuals involved in drug-related activities.

On October 25th, Sidney/North Saanich RCMP conducted a vehicle that was stopped on the Tsawout First Nation.

The occupants were  two known offenders from the Victoria area, one of which was found to be at large on an arrest warrant from another jurisdiction.

According to police, a replica firearm, a collapsible baton, currency, scales, and vehicle license documents unrelated to the subjects were found during the vehicle stop.

Additionally, suspected quantities of illegal drugs were seized—both in pill and powder form, as well as suspected ‘magic mushrooms’.

“The nature of this stop, specifically the presence of real and imitation weapons, all beside various illicit drugs, highlights the risk police officers in the CRD face day-to-day, as well as the good proactive work being undertaken by frontline officers,” said Cpl. Duncan Ferguson, Operations for Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

RCMP claim the charges related to this vehicle stop, specifically the drug trafficking and weapons offenses, will continue to be investigated.
