Woman freed after being grabbed from behind and dragged into woods: Ladysmith RCMP

Ladysmith RCMP are investigating an incident where a woman was allegedly grabbed and briefly pulled into a wooded area on Remembrance Day.

On Saturday, November 11th, at around 8:30 p.m., Ladysmith RCMP received a report regarding an assault along Transfer Beach Boulevard near Oyster Bay Drive by the railway tracks.

According to police, the woman was grabbed from behind and forcibly taken into a wooded area by an unknown man briefly before being released.

The suspect is described as wearing a black ski mask or balaclava along with dark-colored cargo pants and a dark top. They stand approximately 5’9″ tall, with a slim build, and have dark-colored eyes.

According to RCMP, although the victim did not sustain physical injuries, she is receiving support from victim services. Despite the deployment of police dogs to the scene, the suspect could not be located.

“We are asking anyone who was in the area of Transfer Beach / Oyster Bay Drive on the evening of November 11 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to contact the Ladysmith RCMP, especially if they saw a person matching the description of the suspect, or anyone seen loitering in the area that evening,” said Cst. Bryna Arrowsmith of the Ladysmith RCMP.

“We are also looking for anyone who may have dash cam footage in that time frame and area on the night of November 11.”
