Hockey and literature fans unite!
In celebration of Hockey Day in Canada being hosted in Victoria this weekend, Munro’s Books is hosting a special book signing with three very familiar faces: Ron MacLean, Ken Reid, and Brian Burke.
On Friday, January 19th, these hockey legends will be around from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to chat, answer questions, and sign books!
Each of these individuals have phenomenal stories to tell and are thrilled to present them to anyone excited to listen and learn more about the significance of hockey in communities across Canada.
Co-authored by long-time host of CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada Ron MacLean and Kirstie McLellan Day, the book Hockey Towns features untold stories of superstars Wayne Gretzky and Eric Lindros, as well as Original Six legends and junior players who left their hearts on the ice.
These tales of triumph, and sometimes tragedy, are promised to resonate with hockey fans across the country.
Hometown Hockey Heroes by Canadian broadcaster and Sportsnet Central host Ken Reid boasts an entertaining collection of hockey communities across Canada, detailing leagues that forge both decades-long rivalries and unbreakable friendships.
Lastly, NHL executive and analyst Brian Burke is described as one of the biggest personalities in the media landscape. His brashness makes him a magnet for attention, and he does nothing to shy away from it.
In his novel Burke’s Law, you will get the chance to be up close and personal with his loud and entertaining thoughts as he lives and breathes hockey.
The event is free to attend, all you have to do is bring your enthusiastic self and open yourself up to the chaotic and wonderful hockey world!
Following the signing, there will be an Alumni Game hosted at Victoria’s Save-on-Foods-Memorial Centre featuring hockey legends dating back to the 90s and further.
This days-long celebration will kick off on Wednesday, January 17th with a series of community hockey events catering to all ages across Greater Victoria.
