Get ready, Victoria!

Now in its 59th year, the esteemed Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition opens on March 1st at the Royal BC Museum, featuring nearly 100 stunning photos highlighting the finest wildlife photography worldwide.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year showcases captivating animal behavior, stunning species, and the remarkable diversity of the natural world. It reveals both the triumphs and challenges of a planet facing immense pressure.

Through their art, photographers worldwide introduce audiences to endangered species and those on the path to recovery.

Each photo is displayed in an oversized backlit format with a caption that narrates its story, harnessing photography’s emotive power to engage and inspire viewers.

To celebrate its return, we’ve partnered with the Royal BC Museum to give away four passes to Wildlife Photographer of the Year so that you can check out this incredible exhibit for yourself, plus some extra goodies—you’ll find those contest details below!

This year’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition received an impressive 49,957 entries from photographers of all ages and experience levels across 95 countries.

Notably, this year’s exhibition features the work of two local photographers, Garth Lenz and Mark Williams.

Williams, based in Jordan River, had his image of an Arctic fox backlit by the sun selected by the Natural History Museum for use in the exhibition’s marketing materials. Lenz’s striking aerial shot of the massive Bingham Canyon copper mine in Utah received high commendation from the judging panel.
