VicPD have confirmed that they are investigating a fatal stabbing incident that occurred in downtown Victoria during the early morning hours on Sunday.

At approximately 4 a.m. on March 31st, VicPD responded to a report of a stabbing in the 700-Block of Pandora Avenue.

Officers arrived at the scene to find one man dead and another victim who was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One person was taken into custody, and there is no further risk to the public, according to police.

VicPD did not release specific details on the incident; however, unconfirmed details are emerging, suggesting that an employee of the Ocean Island Inn hostel was part of the incident.

A source says that the front desk person was the injured person transported to hospital. It is unclear who the man found dead was.

The 700-block of Pandora Avenue remained cordoned off with police tape for much of the day and reopened late Sunday afternoon.

Photos from the scene showed evidence markers scattered outside the hostel, and a puddle of blood is visible on the road.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and has been handed over to the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit.

Victoria Buzz has reached out to VicPD, BC Ambulance Service, and the BC Coroners for more details, and we will update this story once we have more information.
