Filming the sophomore season of the hit HBO show, The Last of Us has already begun, and now it is preparing to come to Vancouver Island.
The series’ first season was shot primarily in Alberta and now Canada’s TV and film industry will once again prosper off its beautiful locations which will be featured in the show.
According to The Last of Us News, the show is moving into Nanaimo next, and have already begun blocking off streets to get them apocalypse ready.
According to them, the cast and crew will be prepping to get filming in the area on May 14th and 15th.

The second season of the show will be based on the video game “The Last of Us: Part II”, similarly to how the first season was based on part one of the game.
This season will follow Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (played once again by Bella Ramsey) in the aftermath of the first season.
It will also introduce a new main character, Abby (played by Kaitlyn Dever) who plays a soldier of the Washington Liberation Front and seeks to avenge her father’s death.
Filming in BC reportedly began in February and is scheduled to continue through until the end of August.
The expected release date of the second season of “The Last of Us” is slated for sometime in 2025.
