Name that sweeper: Saanich wants your help naming their street cleaner

Share

Get out a pen and some paper, Victoria—it’s time to get creative!

The District of Saanich is thrilled to announce a Name That Sweeper contest to honour the upcoming National Public Works Week (NPWW) in May.

This sweeper was introduced to the streets of Victoria in April 2023 and is known to be small but mighty.

It has become a valuable part of the public works fleet with a big job—after all, it’s the only sweeper that can keep Saanich bike lanes clear!

Help Saanich properly welcome this cute and powerful mini sweeper to the fleet by submitting your best name idea through their public platform, HelloSaanich

You have up until Wednesday, May 15th to submit your idea!

The Public Works staff will then review all of your wonderful name suggestions and select the top five for a round of public voting on HelloSaanich during NPWW from May 19th to 25th.

The lucky winner will be announced on the District’s social media channels on May 27th.

Public Works staff will review submissions and select the top five names for public voting on HelloSaanich during National Public Works Week, from May 19th to25th, 2024.

The winning name will be announced on the District’s social media channels on Monday, May 27th.

If you’re hoping to find out more about what the Public Works staff do, they’ll be hosting a two-hour tour of the Yard on May 23rd at 1 p.m. as a part of NPWW.

Happy naming and best of luck!
