High temperatures were the order of the day on Wednesday as Islanders took to the waters for respite.
In total, British Columbia saw 17 historic weather records smashed on June 12th, 6 of which occurred on Vancouver Island.
Unseasonable highs of 29-30°C are attributed to a very strong ridge of high pressure, according to Environment Canada.
Temperatures in Victoria rose to 29.6°C, breaking a record of 28.9°C that was previously set 87 years ago, in 1932.
