Two teenage boys from Port Alberni were arrested by RCMP on Monday after destroying a series of historic train cars from the “Alberni Pacific Railway” Roundhouse.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Port Alberni RCMP were called to the Western Vancouver Island Industrial Heritage Society for reports of two youths rampaging through two train passenger coaches.

According to the heritage society’s Facebook page, the “destructive rampage” included smashing every single window in the two passenger cars, discharging fire extinguishers inside the historic trains, and “making a general mess.”
When officers arrived, they quickly located the teens near the train cars.
“The two teenage boys are under 18,” Cpl. Jordan Hamlyn, Port Alberni RCMP, told Victoria Buzz.
“Both have been charged with mischief.”
The estimated value of damage will be calculated by the heritage society, said the RCMP, though the total value has yet to be determined.
However, the heritage society did say that “it is going to take a lot of work to replace the windows and repair the damage.”
Victoria Buzz has reached out to the Western Vancouver Island Industrial Heritage Society for comment.
