Two elderly women suffered minor injuries after they were both struck by a vehicle in a marked crosswalk in Sidney Sunday night.
The incident occurred just after 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Sidney Avenue and Third Street. The intersection was closed for a couple hours while officers investigated.
Police say two female pedestrians were crossing the street when they were struck. One was 88 and the other 87.
The 88-year-old was treated at the scene and the 87-year-old was transported to hospital for minor injures and later released.
The driver, a Saanich resident, remained on scene and was served with a violation ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, as well as a second charge for windshield or window that impairs drivers vision.
