A body discovered in downtown Nanaimo yesterday is believed to be that of a 27-year-old woman reported missing in late May.
According to Nanaimo RCMP, the body was discovered by police on Thursday, June 3rd, in the vicinity of Albert Street and Victoria Crescent.
The deceased was found in a small wooded ravine, and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the death.
Based on preliminary observations, investigators believe that the deceased is 27-year-old Amy Watts, who was reported missing by her family on Thursday, May 27th.
Her family have been notified of her passing.
A forensic autopsy will be scheduled in the near future and the investigation is continuing.
