Did you know cyclist can be ticketed for speeding through a school zone?
It’s true, you can, according to Saanich police.
A cyclist in Saanich was ticketed today for speeding in a school zone. The woman was caught in one of six speed traps set up by Saanich police this morning.
#YYJ drivers we are in 6 school zones. So #yyjtraffic reduce speed. Watch for peds and cyclists. Drive as if your life depended on it

Police said she wasn’t too happy about the ticket, but say the law applies to everyone on wheels.
#yyjtraffic #cyclists school zone speed limits apply to you as well. Just ticketed one. She was very upset. Rules of the road apply

The incident follows a Tuesday school-zone stop in Saanich, where a mother who was pulled over for speeding admitted to police she had smoked a “celebratory joint” with other moms before getting behind the wheel. She passed a sobriety test but is facing a speeding ticket.
