Snowfall warning: Victoria could be hit with another 10 cm of snow Thursday

Share

As Vancouver Island continues to get used to the white fluffy stuff falling from the sky, Environment Canada has issued a new snowfall warning.

The weather agency says that areas could see a total of 5 to 10 cm of snow by the afternoon, with more snow or freezing rain occurring in the evening.

“Another area of low pressure will approach the south coast later today,” reads the weather alert for Victoria.

“Arctic air is still in place over the area this morning but a trend towards slightly milder conditions will occur through the afternoon and temperatures are expected to remain near the freezing mark tonight.”

Environment Canada also warns that snowfall could become fairly heavy during the late afternoon and early evening, during rush hour.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.”

Snowfall warnings have been issued for:

  • Greater Victoria,
  • The Malahat
  • East Vancouver Island including Duncan and Nanaimo
  • The Southern Gulf Islands
