It’s the season of giving and UVic wants you to join in their annual Giving Tuesday campaign to help unlock more than $45,000 in matching donations.
Over the past five years, the celebration has raised more than $399,600 toward various on campus clubs, departments and initiatives that support students, research and the community.
UVic’s Giving Tuesday campaign, ‘Project Add Sprinkles’ works to make a difference in just twenty four hours through both online donations and in person activities.
On November 30th, join Victoria Buzz as we go live on location to share all the important funds and initiatives as well as on-campus activities you can participate in.
The goal is to raise $150,000 for 24 funds in just 24 hours and demonstrate how all our contributions – big or small – add up to make a big difference across campus.
On the day of the event, students will be able to participate in Philanthr-opoly, a life-sized game of Monopoly. In this game, players can answer UVic philanthropy related trivia questions to unlock donations.
The event is not only for UVic students and alumni, however, the Greater Victoria community is invited to celebrate Giving Tuesday by giving back through The Great Giving Gram-Avalanche.
For a $5 donation, you can send someone who has made an impact in your life a Giving Gram. Not only will this gift let the person know how much they mean to you, the Giving Gram will also give them a chance to make a donation to a fund that will impact the community.
The first 250 Giving Grams that are sent will be gifted an additional $5 each, thanks to generous sponsors, doubling your impact!

On November 30th, participating Food Service outlets on campus will also be donating some proceeds from every coffee sold between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. to the Giving Tuesday priority funds. The Bubble Bus Co. will also be providing cupcakes and hot chocolate by donation between 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
While participating in games, donating to your favourite fund and enjoying some warm treats, be sure to post to social media and use the hashtag #AddSprinklesUVic.
