Nanaimo RCMP are looking to identify three suspects involved in a liquor store robbery who bear-sprayed employees when confronted.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 22nd, several expensive bottles of Scotch whiskey were stolen from the Landing Liquor Store, located in the Brooks Landing Mall.

When staff confronted the individuals, a male suspect produced a canister of bear spray and discharged it toward the employee before fleeing with the alcohol into the parking lot.

When officers arrived on scene, employees told investigators they believed the two women were being used as distractions, keeping them occupied while the male suspect selected the bottles.

Police searched the surrounding area for the suspects but were unable to locate them.

Both employees were offered medical aid but they declined.

The male suspect is described as being in his mid 20’s, approximately 6’2” tall, with dark gelled hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing white runners with a zipper.

One of the female suspects is believed to be Indigenous, heavy-set and wearing a long grey jacket with a red hoodie underneath.

The other woman is Caucasian with a slim build. At the time of the incident she was wearing a black and yellow face mask and a black hoodie with a white triangular logo on the front.

Anyone with information on this incident, or who may recognize any of the suspects from the photos provided, are asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at (250) 754-2345.
