Time flies when you’re having fun!

Another Friday is upon us and as the weekend approaches it’s time to let loose and unwind — and depending on how you choose to do so, we have a mix of events for you to choose from.

Rock out at Phillips Backyard second music series weekend, catch a free outdoor movie, or stomp your feet to some Celtic shanties!

Here are 5 things to do on Friday, August 11th:

Phillips Backyard: Reverb

Kicking off on Friday, August 11th and rocking until Sunday, August 13th will the be second installment in the Phillips Backyard Music Series!

Jesse Roper will be the first headlining act on Friday, along with The Blue Stones, Crown Lands, Little Destroyer, and Acres of Lions playing earlier in the afternoon.

Grab your tickets today — whether it’s individual day passes or the weekend pass!

Prices will vary depending on the pass you decide to purchase, but the range is between $85 and $250.

Free-B Film Festival

This film festival will feature a huge lineup of free outdoor movies throughout the month of August.

Kicking off this incredible outdoor experience on Friday will be the famous Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!

They ask that you bring a blanket, some snacks, a flashlight, and maybe a teddy bear. There is no cost to enjoy the movie, admission is free — just make sure you pack out what you bring.

Celtic Night at the Loghouse Pub

Get down to Langford for this special music event at the Loghouse Pub!

A promised night of table banging, foot stomping, and high-energy Celtic music awaits you and your friends — featuring tons of shanties, storytelling, and pub songs.

There won’t be a cover charge for this event, so hop to it!

Hot Local Singles at Centennial Square

As described, Wine Lips is touring up the coast and they’re throwing a late summer rager with Queens Park and Earth Freaks.

Wine Lips is known for their punk psych rock music and has toured all over Canada and even went to China in 2018 where they were met with excited and enthusiastic audiences!

The venue has changed because Upstairs Cabaret is closed for construction, but now the show is free at Centennial Square!

  • When: Friday, August 11th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Tickets: FREE!

Fridays at the Station

Did you forget about this summer pop-up series?

On Fridays throughout the summer, you can stop by 720 Station Avenue from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., where you’ll find the Victoria Beer Society’s beer truck serving up cold brews, as well as live beats, eats, and more on site!

This lively event kicked off last Friday, May 12th, and will run weekly until August 25th — so don’t miss your chance to check it out.
