A baby boy becomes Vancouver Island’s first arrival of 2024.
In a social media post, Island Health announced the birth of Ferguson “Gus” Kenneth Ouellet Mitchell, who arrived at Victoria General Hospital on Monday, January 1st, at 2:06 a.m., tipping the scales at 7lbs 8oz.
Delighted parents Nadia and Alex, along with big sister Saoirse, embraced the arrival of young Gus with immense joy.

BC’s first baby of the year went to a family in New Westminster.
Fraser Health announced Taylor Stutsky’s arrival at Royal Columbian Hospital at midnight, weighing 6 lbs. 14 oz.
