Victoria’s Fifteen Fifty’s Restaurant closes down in order to rebrand under new ownership

Fifteen Fifty’s (1550s) Pub Style Restaurant announced over the weekend that as they enter the new year, the eatery will be closing its doors only to reopen them under a new name and brand.

1550s has been a mainstay of Saanich for around 30 years near the corner of Cedar Hill X Road and Shelbourne Street, but former owner and operator Keith Campbell sold the restaurant to another local restaurateur as of December 1st.

The new owner, Cole Byers, is the same person who opened the popular Langford eatery, The Rack West Coast Bistro.

Byers has been getting ready to convert 1550s to The Rack since he took over the business last month.

Between Tuesday, January 2nd and Tuesday, January 9th, the restaurant will undergo a speedy renovation prior to its reopening.

According to the new owner, all current wait staff and chefs have been invited to keep working for Byers at The Rack once it opens next week.

The food menu will be reduced and reimagined; however, the pub-fare concept will remain.

The Rack West Coast Bistro say they will continue to honour any preexisting gift cards for 1550s as the changeover takes place.

They are hopeful to have the renovated restaurant open again on January 9th, permitting all the work they need to get done can be completed on time.
