Nanaimo RCMP are reaching out to the public for help in identifying a man suspected of multiple thefts and frauds across several Lowes Home Improvement locations in Nanaimo, Saanich, and New Westminster since early 2023.

The individual, whose image was captured on security footage from an incident in Nanaimo on June 15th, 2023, is alleged to have stolen merchandise valued at over $30,000.

Police, in collaboration with Loss Prevention Officers in various jurisdictions, have uncovered a pattern in the suspect’s modus operandi.

Reportedly, he purchases several items but also steals others, returning shortly afterward to refund the legitimately acquired goods.

“Based on video obtained from security cameras, investigators have been able to narrow the suspect pool down. However, they are hoping the public can help to positively identify the suspect,” said R/Cst Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

The individual depicted in the photos is described as a heavy-set Caucasian man, standing approximately 5′ 10″ tall, with dark receding hair and a beard.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is urged to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
