A medical event is believed to be the cause of a single-vehicle crash that saw a truck collide through the side of a five-storey apartment building in Langford over the weekend.
The incident, which occurred just after 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 3rd at 697 Hoylake Avenue, near Millstream Road, left one person hospitalized with serious injuries.
The truck crashed through the stairwell section of the building startling residents and drew emergency responders to the scene.
According to reports, the crash transpired when the driver of the pickup truck suffered a medical emergency, causing the vehicle to veer off course and collide with the apartment building’s stairwell.
The passenger, fortunately, emerged unscathed from the incident.
RCMP have disclosed that the injured driver was transported to the hospital, where they remain in stable condition despite sustaining serious injuries.
Meanwhile, investigators have initiated a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, focusing on the medical event that led to the driver’s loss of control.
None of the tenants were injured.
