Luxury car set ablaze at downtown dealership latest in series of suspicious fires (VIDEO)

Victoria Fire Department had a busy Tuesday night extinguishing three fires, one of which was set inside a luxury Mercedes-Benz.

Just 40 minutes after extinguishing a fire at Acme Cleaning Supplies on Government Street and a nearby brush fire, firefighters were called to Three Point Motors, just a few blocks away from Acme at 2546 Government Street.

Notably, the site of this fire is only a few blocks away from the heritage home which was destroyed by a fire last week as well as the intentionally set fire which engulfed the Ricky’s All Day Grill from the prior week.

On Tuesday night, VicPD and Victoria Fire Department attended Three Point Motors with a full response in order to extinguish the fire inside a Mercedes-Benz which they believe to be suspicious.

“Quickly deploying the bumper line and flowing foam, it took four minutes for firefighters to control the stubborn, magnesium rich fire,” said Victoria Fire Department in an Instagram post about the fire.

“The compressed gas cylinders for all the airbags and struts could be heard exploding upon arrival and during the battle as they were exposed to the heat.”

The fire department says that aside from the car which became engulfed, the only other car that was damaged was the one next to it which was impacted by the intense heat.

“Our Fire Prevention Division has been extremely busy lately with a series of fires in a three block radius near the intersection of Douglas and Government Streets,” said Victoria Fire Department.

“Although these incidents may not be linked, we are asking the residents and businesses in these areas to be diligent and report if they have information or camera footage in around the times of any of these recent fires.”

Any information or footage of this fire should be reported to VicPD who can be reached at (250) 995-7654.
