Well known in the community, local Victoria comedian Jason Lamb will be headlining at the Fernwood Comedy Night next week!
On Wednesday, January 24th, Victorians are invited to witness the absurdity and hilarity that Fernwood Comedy Night has to offer.
Hosted by Paul McKinnon at the Fernwood Inn, audiences can always expect new and fresh material with their constantly rotating performances and variety of comedic styles including improv, music, and more.
“Fernwood Comedy Night strives to give a voice to comic performers from a variety of backgrounds, and sometimes listening to someone with a different point of view can open you up to a sense of who is in your community—that’s always a good thing,” McKinnon told Victoria Buzz.
“Plus, it never hurts to laugh—unless you’re laughing so hard that it hurts.”
McKinnon is thrilled to present Jason Lamb, saying that he’s quite the legend in the Victoria stand-up comedy world and has got plenty of shows under his belt.
Lamb had taken a long break from being on stage, only recently coming back last April for the inaugural “Stand-up/Downstairs” comedy series at The Wicket Hall, which McKinnon also produces.
“We’re lucky to have him, as he’s a funny, funny guy. Also, it’s his first time on the [Fernwood Comedy] show! Which is LONG overdue.”
Fernwood Comedy Night has been around since September of 2019 and has quickly become a comedy staple in Victoria—always attracting new crowds, returning laughter lovers, and fresh talent.
“I believe we’ve grown more diverse/inclusive over the years, and are willing to give space and time to seasoned performers as well as those who are new to the game,” McKinnon shared.
“We’ve also grown to a point where almost all of our shows sell out!”
January 24th’s show in particular will feature five opening performances, each of them doing a 5 to 10 minute session each, and then Jason’s headline performance will be around 20 to 25 minutes.
The performers include Sophie Crocker, Mary Winsforden, Jeff Corntassel, Andrew Mack, and Laura Floyd.
