Get your final Halloween hoorah at this collection of post-scary season thrillers such as a murder mystery novel reading from a local author, march your pumpkins down to Gorge Park for a pumpkin parade, and more!

Feeling done with October? That’s okay too! Attend a Joni Mitchell tribute or a casual evening at a pub.

Beloved Local Author at Bolen Books

Great news for Jean Paetkau fans and local literature enthusiasts!

Paetkau will be reading from her bestselling murder mystery, Blood on the Breakwater at Bolen Books this Wednesday!

Her story begins with a journalist finding a body washed up on the lower pathway of the breakwater. The journalist recognizes the corpse and begins diving into the possible motive behind murdering a museum curator for a 19th century Victoria painter.

Paetkau is an award winning journalist and screenwriter—including a Leo Award for her work with APTN and a 2022 Jack Webster award. She has three children’s books available for purchase on Amazon, Indigo, and at Russell Books. She has also written numerous humorous essays The Globe and Mail and works for CBC Radio.

I Think I’m Fallin’: The Songs of Joni Mitchell

Hosted by the Belfry Theatre, this tribute to Joni Mitchell’s music has been dubbed one of the ‘best shows ever’ and has been compared to the standards of Broadway!

Conceived by Michael Shamata & Tobin Stokes, they hope to truly capture the legacy of Mitchell and the impact she’s had on many lives and generations.

Tickets are on a ‘pay what you can’ sliding scale and can be purchased here.

Gorge Park Pumpkin Parade

Not sure what to do with your used pumpkins?

Join the people of Victoria in one last Halloween hoorah and bring your carved pumpkins to Gorge Park between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and return to see them all lit up between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Additionally, entertainment will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and there will be free hot chocolate and treats for the community!

    • Bring your pumpkin between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
    • See them lit up and enjoy free refreshments from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Batshits at The Roxy Theatre

Dress to impress and get ready for a trip back to 1994 with your favourite riot girl goth punk band, The Batshits!

This is a four day collection of shows from Atomic Vaudeville—each unique and each guaranteed to rock your world.

Tickets are on a sliding scale and can be purchased for prices between $20 and $50!
