Police release photos of suspect who allegedly burned down Ricky’s on Douglas Street

VicPD have released pictures of the alleged person they believe burnt down the Ricky’s All Day Grill located in the 2900-block of Douglas Street.

At around 3 a.m. on Friday, June 16th, 2023, Victoria firefighters rushed to the Ricky’s location to put out a massive fire which, by the time they got there, had engulfed nearly the whole building. 

Police say that the damages to the building are in the range of $1.5 to $2 million. At the time of the fire the restaurant was listed for sale for around $2.8 million.

VicPD’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) led the investigation and soon after they began their investigation, they announced the incident was being considered suspicious.

After gathering and combing through all available CCTV footage, VicPD released following images of their primary suspect, as well as the feature photo of this article.

Police describe him as a Caucasian male with a medium build and short hair. 

They say the suspect was wearing all black clothing including a black hat, gloves and a square, black backpack with white writing on it.
