A gas leak in the West Shore on Tuesday afternoon, caused by an excavator, is now contained. The area is expected to reopen around 4 p.m.
Langford Fire described the leak earlier as “significant.”
Police closed off an entire block near Leigh Rd and Dunford Ave, and homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.
It took Fortis BC about two hours to contain.
3:30 p.m. UPDATE: Fortis has contained the gas leak on Leigh Rd and are scanning homes to ensure no gas is remains. The area is expected to reopened to the public in the next 30 minutes.
