Yep, the weekend is upon us and it’s going to be a busy one, Victoria!

There are several big events happening today that extend throughout the weekend. From Ribfest to Rifflandia, it’s going to be a blast!

Here’s are 5 things happing around the city today to kick off your weekend:

 

Esquimalt Ribfest 

Ribfest is returning to Bullen Park this weekend to celebrate their 10th anniversary of slinging ribs at one of the biggest and most anticipated events Esquimalt has to offer. Admission is free.

Rifflandia 

The first weekend of two weekend’s has arrived. The festival’s massively talented and culturally iconic headliners are: Chris Lake, Run The Jewels, Paris Hilton, Iggy Pop, Diplo, Herbie Hancock and Salt-N-Pepa.

Great Canadian Beer Festival

Beer lovers will get a chance to sample a selection of 250 different beers from more than 80 breweries at the Great Canadian Beer Festival, which returns to Victoria this weekend at Royal Athletic Park.

    • Friday, September 8th from 4 to 9 p.m.
    • Saturday, September 9th, noon to 5 p.m.

Bands on the Roof

Get ready to kick-off the campus in style with “Bands on the Roof” – the ultimate music event for all new and returning UVIC students!

Talented local bands will rock the rooftop, and you’ll be in for an unforgettable experience as you soak up the vibrant atmosphere from below.

  • Where: 3800 Finnerty Road, Outside the Student Union Building (The SUB
  • When: Friday, September 8th from noon to 5 p.m.

The Greatest Show on Earth

A local artist whose specialty is creating stunning, lifelike driftwood sculptures, Tanya Bub, has taken over Bastion Square’s Gage Gallery with her latest exhibition that has been dropping jaws since it opened. Admission: By donation with all proceeds going to Our Place Society
