Well look at that, Victoria!

The short week is already complete and the weekend has begun. And to make things better, the next couple days are jam packaged with event favourites such as Rifflandia and Ribfest!

So without further ado, here are 7 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend, September 9th and 10th:

Super Mario Brothers Tournament Victoria

Fans of Super Smash Bros are uniting this week in Victoria to duke it out and see who is the best at the popular video game.

Competitors from all across BC, Alberta and even Washington know about the monthly meetup of Smash Bros fans and they gather in Victoria at the Fernwood Community Centre to hold regular tournaments.

Rifflandia

The first of two weekends of Rifflandia kicked off! This being Rifflandia’s 15th year of existence, the crew behind the ins-and-outs of putting on the festival decided it was time for evolution.

Rifflandia will run Thursday to Saturday this weekend. From comedy to music, and more!

Esquimalt Ribfest 

Ribfest is returning to Bullen Park this weekend to celebrate their 10th anniversary of slinging ribs at one of the biggest and most anticipated events Esquimalt has to offer. Admission is free.

Great Canadian Beer Festival

Beer lovers will get a chance to sample a selection of 250 different beers from more than 80 breweries at the Great Canadian Beer Festival, which returns to Victoria this weekend at Royal Athletic Park.

    • Friday, September 8th from 4 to 9 p.m.

Bryan Adams – So Happy It Hurts tour

Bryan Adams fans in Victoria have a reason to rejoice as the iconic rock musician makes a stop in the capital city this weekend.

The second leg of his highly successful So Happy It Hurts tour is set to kick off on September 9th at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria.

  • When: Saturday, September 9th, starts around 8 p.m.

Celebrate African Eloquent

Beyond enhancing the opportunity, empowerment, confidence and public speaking skills of youth, African Eloquence Youth Celebration offers the Greater Victoria community a unique cross-cultural experience. Join African Heritage Association of Vancouver Island (AHAVI) and BC Black History Awareness Society (BCBHAS) as we bring together a diverse group of people to learn, celebrate and experience the value of difference and diversity.

Paddle for Health

A FUNdraiser for the Island Kids Cancer Association! Paddlers launch from Willows Beach and follow the shoreline past Cattle Point and into Caddy Bay then on to Gyro Park Beach. After a short break, they will follow the route back to Willows Beach.

  • Where: Willows Beach Park to Gyro Beach and back again
  • When: Saturday, September 9th, paddlers arrive at 8:30 a.m., then kick off at 9:45 a.m.
