Suspect at large after senior was stabbed in the hand and face in James Bay

Police are looking for witnesses after a senior was stabbed twice in the James Bay area on Monday evening.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 30th, VicPD were dispatched to the 400-block of Michigan Street in response to a report of a man who had been stabbed.

The victim, who was in a designated smoking area at the time, was approached by an individual who demanded money.

When the victim responded that he had no money to give, the situation escalated with the suspect striking the victim with a large knife on his hand and face.

The assailant fled the scene on foot, leaving the victim in need of immediate medical attention.

Investigators are now asking any witnesses to come forward, particularly a woman, described as a “nicely dressed” and standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall, stopped to check on the injured man before leaving the area.

Police say they are keen to speak with this woman, believing she might possess crucial information related to the ongoing investigation.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the case remains actively under investigation.
